“The new way we want to communicate with Sales staff”
How Generali uses SlidePresenter to train its sales force
Inform and optimise
With more than 9 million customers, Generali is one of the largest primary insurers in Germany. Generali relies on more than 3,000 agents and brokers to sell its products.
With such a large sales network, sales training plays a major role. After all, sales staff need to be continuously informed about new products, sales messages need to be optimised and internal processes need to be improved.
“Insurance is becoming faster and the digital transformation of insurance is playing a major role. New topics need to be communicated to the target group quickly,” explains Aloys Gschrey, who is responsible for training and development at Generali.
Until now, Generali has mainly used on-site seminars or live webinars. SlidePresenter is now used to create learning videos that can be accessed ‘on demand’ and increase the reach and speed of the roll-out.
Thomas Marschall, Group Manager Field Service Development, explains why the company relies primarily on videos: “For sure, we could distribute several newsletters and information every day, but nobody can read that any more. We have to simplify the information transfer. You can say a lot in a 3-minute video and I can explain a lots of things.”
"Save costs and transfer knowledge very easily and simply"
Video-based training is nothing new for Generali. Previously, however, such web-based training courses were produced professionally in a studio, which was significantly more time-consuming and expensive. With SlidePresenter, employees from the specialist departments now record directly - at a much lower cost than studio recordings. Gschrey: “We can save costs and transport knowledge very easily and simply.”
At Generali, more and more of these elaborately produced training courses are being replaced by authentic learning videos. Learning videos are also increasingly being used in the preparation of onsite seminars where all participants complete the first units in learning videos. This ‘blended learning’ approach means that training courses can be better prepared and started in a more focussed manner.
Gschrey was pleasantly surprised by the rapid acceptance of the employee-generated videos: “It wasn’t a hurdle at all to get someone excited about SlidePresenter.” The simple usability of the software may also have played a role in this. “We didn’t need a manual and when questions arose, SlidePresenter’s support team was always on hand to help and advise us,” says a satisfied Gschrey.
Thomas Marschall can pass on the feedback from the sales force: “It’s been really well received in the field, we get a lot of positive feedback. That’s the new way we want to communicate with sales.”
